"Maya wants to go to a ballgame with Dad!"

Maya has been saying for weeks that she wanted to go to a ballgame with Dad. So we went last Wednesday night, and she loved it. The local NBA team is the Timberwolves, and their mascot is a wolf; Maya is obsessed with wolves. Every time she saw the wolf or heard it howl she was giddy. We stayed for the whole game, and we had a blast. If you notice, in both of the pictures Maya can't take her eyes off of the game. She has been asking to go to another game ever since we got home.

On an interesting sidenote, we saw the "World's Most Flexible Man" at halftime. Incredible and disgusting. They carried him out in a tiny box. He passed his whole body through the head of a regular sized tennis racket and performed many other physically impossible feats. See for yourself.

"Meseversary" (aka Mensiversary)

She is a month today. Evan affectionately calls it her 'meseversary.' Mes=month in Spanish. This lady loves to kick her legs wherever she is, hence the one leg sticking completely out of blankets. Last week she started grinning at us, the best present in the world.

Balmy Minnesota

The HIGH, by the weather forecast was supposed to be -1 degrees. Too bad it didn't get above -8 degrees all day long. Before coming to Minnesota, I joked that we were moving to the 'freezing tundra' and I'm thinking it's true.

Snow is here

You know it's cold when you lick your snot, but it's already frozen after 10 minutes outside.

Maya running on her favorite lake, yep, you heard right, she's out on a lake. It's what we do here in Minnesota.

At the lake, giving Evan a look like 'don't you dare take me home yet.'

Backpacking Glacier National Park

This trip is old news. My brother and I went on a week-long backpacking trip in Glacier National Park in August. A few friends have been requesting pictures, and I have been slow to respond. So with a bit of free time on my hands, I finally make an effort to be a good friend. Happy Thanksgiving.

P.S. The middle photo is me fly fishing in a beautiful lake--it isn't immediately apparent. The fishing was fantastic, and I caught all that I could handle. My brother even caught a 15" Arctic Grayling on his first attempt at fly fishing. A good day indeed.

giving THANKS

I am thankful for God for giving me three special people to go through life with. I am thankful for the miracle of healthy babies. I am thankful for a Mom who comes out to stay after each of my babies....and cooks Thanksgiving dinner!

I am grateful for a husband who LOVES his role as a Daddy.

I am grateful for this little lady.

update

i've been preggy now for 3 weeks longer than i was with maya! but i feel great and am happy that this little lady would like to stay. i am getting a little antsy to meet this little person, and just want to look at her, but other than that things are going really well. watch her be a week overdue. :)

here i am at 38+ weeks pregnant.

maya thinks that this baby chair is her new bed. notice the stickers on her face. they HAD to go on her face, not on a shirt or paper, but her face.

it snowed! i was ecstatic to find some beautiful fluffy snow outside this morning, and maya watched it, saying "snow came back!"

nesting

i must be nesting....this is what has happened this week:

i'm 38 weeks pregnant, and find the need to have food storage NOW. evan got home from work and we HAD to go to sam's club to start my food storage. the only problem is i came home from their after spending some sweet cash to find that nothing i bought is really food storage, but i did find 72 packets of delicious land o' lakes hot chocolate. i guess that's my food storage.

i find the need to be stocked up on things like:
shampoo
conditioner
toilet paper
cleaning products

so maya and i went to target yesterday and spent even more sweet cash to buy things that will keep us clean for the next year.

nevermind you that i don't have an infant car seat YET. i'm super on top of things. i don't have a way to bring my baby home, but i have shampoo for the next year. good thing i'll be able to wash my hair and drink hot chocolate.

i love ball game

i attended a wedding in st. george in early september, and when i came home, maya knew how to say some new phrases. among these were:
"i love ball game."
"i love wolf chase."
the wolf refers to her and evan going to the zoo and running along the fence with the wolves. she still talks about it, saying "maya too fast."
and referring to the ball game, she will sit and watch football, basketball, baseball or hockey with evan. they went to maya's first minnesota twins game when i was gone, and we took her to her first university of minnesota game monday night. she sat in her own seat the whole time, and loved the mascot-the golden gopher. we took her home at halftime because we thought she needed bedtime, and she was not happy to leave. like father like daughter.

what mondays are good for......

while putting some clothes away in maya's room, maya spotted her swimsuit. you could just see the wheels in her head turning, thinking-
"i haven't seen this in YEARS!"
"i better put it on right now!"
and so she did, trying to put it on over her pajamas, and only when i convinced her we were going to the park did she take it off.

first minnesota visitors!

we LOVE LOVE LOVE when visitors come! especially when it's "ahno" and james. maya calls annie "ahno" and we call james her boyfriend because she has always had a crush on him. she had to sit next to him, hold his hand or go "find" him. she was so happy to have two people come and visit her. i'm sure she thought that they came just to see her. we had a great little visit, and the time went too fast, but we were so happy that they could come see us. we went to the farmer's market, mall of america, made lettuce wraps and apple pie, evan and james went to a hockey game, and annie and i saw the secret life of bees, all in all a fabulous weekend. thanks annie and james for coming all the way to visit us, we love you!

"ahno" and james

MY FIRST HOMEMADE APPLE PIE-this should be shocking to many of you who know that my mom is a fantastic apple pie maker and has a tradition of making apples in the fall, that it has taken me until now to make my first, but it was so fun and i'm happy to report the pie was quickly eaten.

maya doing her FAVORITE thing: throwing rocks into a river.

here is a picture of annie and i and my belly at 8 months pregnant. notice that not too many things are fitting. i have all sorts of great winter attire and it's ALL too short. boo.

Fall is here

Fall has definetely arrived here in Minnesota. Loving the fall colors, the lower temperatures (remind me that I said this when I'm FREEZING to death sometime around February, wondering when spring will ever come), the warmer clothing, although not much of mine fits anymore, apple pies, cider, and anything pumpkin. Maya and I have been eating cream of wheat every morning, I think it's a necessity here in Minnesota. We took Maya to an apple orchard where she ate her weight in apples, and we brought the rest home. And since then we've caught Maya hiding in the living room when she was supposed to be in bed, nibbling an apple. We have a little lawn now, and raked our leaves only to find that Maya had thrown about 50 rocks from our flower beds into the grass. She's the best helper ever. :) We raked and mowed, then the next day it looked as if we did nothing....that's enough to make you not want grass in your yard! But, we are loving fall and I'm not raking again until all the leaves are off the trees.
