after a LONG day (maya's potty training, for the love) and an already LONG week, i was flipping through the channels to relax after my little hijas (daughters in spanish) were in bed. i found a special with michael j. fox, whom i adored when he was on this show. the entire show was on optimism. it was very though provoking for me, and made me want to really strive to have optimism in all facets of life more often. and then the best part............
ben harper was on the show.
and he performed a song.
the first time i heard ben harper i was a junior in highschool. annie and i were cruising up logan canyon in her 1977 volkswagen van, lime green by the way. she had brought back a tape of ben's that she got in europe the summer before. (is that right annie?) and it was the beginning of my most favorite performer, other than the counting crows. anywho, i just love the man.
so, here' s to being optimistic and listening to ben harper. one can't help but be optimistic when you listen to him. if you haven't done it. go. now. and be happy.

Ha! I'm watching the same show right now! Ben has not performed yet though. Can't wait! I'm in love with him as well. Remember Denver? His show with Dave Matthews? The best show ever. And we drove my old honda and only one window rolled down and it was as hot as blazes. and that dumb boy wanted to hold my hand all the time. Ah, good memories...
